2026 Guam Monster Energy Motocross Championship Series
Round 5
GMXC
Round 5 of the 2026 Monster Energy Guam Motocross Championships held this past Sunday at the Tebo Motocross Park in the village of Yona was action packed and full of thrills and spills as Guams motocross community came together on a beautiful Memorial day weekend for a weekend of bar to bar racing.
Motocross on Guam is more than just the twisting of a throttle and sending it over the many jumps but is also about bringing the family together in an activity that everyone in the family is involved with. Motocross is challenging and it takes a family to come together as a team to support one another to victory. Local championship legends of motocross on Guam such as Joey Crisostomo or Michael Limtiaco for example had family that supported them at the races. They also had siblings that raced and were successful at the races. It is still this way today but with the sport now there are more fathers racing against their sons and daughters while grandfathers are signing up for the over 55 vet class. Moms, sisters, nephews, uncles and aunties are all involved both on the track or as support in the race pits. On this past Memorial day weekend the families all were there enjoying what’s most important which is just being together making memories that will last.
Round 5 was a triple crown which meant each class would be racing three times and be awarded points according to their finish for each of the three races known also as heats or motos to determine their overall standing for the round. Each weekend championship round is then accumulated and at the end of the championship series the rider with the highest point total is crowned a champion in that particular class.
In the premier Open Motorcycle class the current championship points leader 31 Richard Wenden took his Rocky Mountain Precast Ktm 250 to the top step of the podium taking his fourth round win of the season. Taking second was reigning champion Kawasaki mounted 1 JR Cepeda with 3 Tim Wenden taking third on a Rocky Mountain Precast supported Ktm. Rounding out the top five was Cyclesplus Kawasaki rider 85 Blaze Aiken and Yamaha mounted Triple J supported 33 Jake Jones respectively. 31 Richard Wenden has increased his lead in the championship standings with 350 points over 1 JR Cepeda who holds 336 points. 3 Tim Wenden sits in third with 298 points.
In the premier Open Atv class taking the overall was reigning champion 1 Rob Bucek aboard a CyclesPlus Suzuki ltr450 . Taking second and third respectively was the father and son team of 9 Camillo Lorenzo and 7 Gavin Lorenzo both mounted on identical Yamaha Yfz450 machines. 1 Rob Bucek on his CyclesPlus Suzuki leads the championship standings with 314 points over 9 Camillo Lorenzo on a Yamaha with 243 points and 7 Gavin Lorenzo on a Yamaha with 218 points.
The Schoolboy class had 8 Jonboy Agoun on a Kawasaki taking the overall. 141 Julian Lane took second with 31 Mariana Wenden finishing 3rd.
The Novice class was a battle with 13 William Mooney dominating to take the win with 8 Jonboy Aguon in second and Mariana Wenden third.
In the Over 40 Vet class 505 Justin Chinana took the overall round win over 77 Gregorio Perez who was followed by the Overall winner in the over 55 Legends class 75 Jeffro Rios and 2nd place finisher 101 Rob Bucek.
The kids minibike and kids mini atv classes seem to be a crowd favorite as the pit area seems to empty as everyone wants to get closer to the action. In the 65cc class Jayce Mantanona took the win with 31 Jenna Wenden in second and Mazzy Chinana in third.
The 85cc class had Aidan Mantanona taking another first overall with Elias San Nicolas in second.
The Mini Atv class was all 10 Giancarlo Lorenzo taking the win over 9 Jonelle Mantanona in second.
After a full hard day of high flying bar to bar racing it was time to sit back with family and friends and enjoy the late afternoon cool down that was blessed with a cool breeze and great food hot off the barbecues. Special thanks in part goes out to the great support from our islands businesses such as Pacific Trucking, Fleet Services, Triple j, CyclesPlus, Rocky Mountain Precast, Fastenal, Proa, MPFE, Unitek, and of course Monster Energy. These great local businesses make it all possible.
